Personal or postal presentments by the applicants

Where an application for registration is presented by the applicants themselves (whether in person or by post), rather than by a solicitor acting on their behalf, each applicant is required to complete a Registers of Scotland Identification Form. The Form contains guidance notes for its completion. In the case of a personal presentment at one of the Agency's customer service centres, the applicant's identity requires to be verified by production of original identity documents to a member of Agency staff, or certified in advance by an authorised certifier. If the application is presented by post, the Identification Form requires to be countersigned by an authorised certifier. A list of authorised certifiers appears on the Form.

In all such cases, the registration officer should ensure that the Identification Form has been enclosed and properly completed.
