S18.9 Examination of Certificates

S18.9 Examination of Certificates

Sasine Intake staff will examine all deeds presented for recording to determine whether a certificate is required and if so whether it should be a Revenue certificate or Self-certificate. If the appropriate certificate does not accompany the deed the deed will be rejected and returned to the ingiving agent.

Intake staff will also examine the certificate to ensure (1) it relates to the deed which it accompanies and (2) that the certificate meets the requirements of the Stamp Duty Land Tax (Administration) Regulations 2003 as regards content, format, style, completion and execution. Failure in either of these regards will result in the deed being rejected and returned to the ingiving agent.

The checks Intake staff will carry out as regards both Revenue certificates and Self-certificates are contained in Appendix 3.
