S18.10 Sasine Drafter Responsibilities

Drafters should check to determine whether a certificate is required. If a certificate is required they should ensure that it accompanies the deed. Drafters need not replicate the detailed certificate checks carried out by Sasine Intake. Intake staff will ensure the appropriate certificate has been presented. They will examine the certificate and ensure it is acceptable.

For the avoidance of doubt neither the Revenue certificate nor the Self-certificate will themselves be entered in the General Register of Sasines. Revenue certificates and Self-certificates do not constitute deeds that are capable of being recorded. Drafters should follow established procedures to ensure that the certificate is marked not appropriate for microfiche.

The certificate should be returned to the applicant’s agent along with the deed.
