S19.2.2 Change of Name

S19.2.2 Change of Name

In some cases a woman’s name may have changed from that stated in a previous deed, e.g. she may have been married/divorced. If there is no link to the previous name then we should phone the Agent and check that it is the same person. Deed can be recorded with a ?Note. If a marriage extract is included, or other evidence showing it is the same person, then this can be accepted without a phone call using a ?Note. The same principles would apply where a man has a different name.
