S7.2.2 Preservation
If Agents wish a writ, after it has been recorded, to be retained for safekeeping in the Books of Council and Session, the preservation box (box 8) on the Sasine Application Form (SAF) must be checked. In such a case an extract of the writ is made and sent to the Agents after the recording is complete. The writ is transmitted to National Archives at the end of the registration process.
Once a deed is recorded for preservation it cannot be withdrawn from the Register, although it may be released for a period if it is required for evidence in a court case. However, this requires the authority of the court, which is rarely given.
