S2.8.1 Preparatory Work in Minuting
Standard Practice Instructions (SPI)
The purpose of the Standard Practice Instructions is to set out how to legally examine deeds for recording in the Sasine Register and to produce accurate minutes.
It also sets out procedures for drafting Confirmations and Multiple County Deeds/Joint Recordings.

Login to CSR and Draw batch
Ensure any confirmations already completed are drawn as part of the batch

Verification of Search Sheet
The Search Sheet number will not always have been noted. If not, identify the Search Sheet number, through CSR/SSI Index Search facilities. If there is no CSS for the subjects, then enter the Search Sheet number in the SSI.
When a closing note appears on the Search Sheet for an operational County writ and search sheet has been closed, the subjects narrated in that note have been transferred to the Land Register. Subsequent writs can no longer be recorded in the Sasine Register. Withdraw writ and return to Agent. |

Examination of Writ and Completion of Rubric
Repeat “verification of search sheet” and “examination of writ and completion of rubric” for remainder of writs in batch. |

Drafting of Minute
1. Expand the skeleton minute by adding the following information taken from the writ: Designations of parties 2. Expand the skeleton minute by adding the following Code L information: Consideration If an error has been identified in the writ that renders it inept, the writ will be withdrawn and returned to the Agent. Where the error does not strike at the validity of the writ, contact Agent to discuss the course of action to be taken.
