The DMS provides RoS with a fully computerised mapping system which consists of the following:
- The drawing tool and the OPS tool for mapping and displaying the extents of cadastral units and indexes (for example, research areas & tree preservation orders).
- Syntegra menu forms for creating, entering, updating and displaying text information in relation to cadastral units and indexes in the database.
- The street gazetteer for accessing the mapbase by property address, grid reference or map name.
- Reports facilities for data entry, searching, maintenance and archive.
- Mapbase management facilities for loading, comparing, editing and management of maps and survey information.
- The map comparator for comparing different versions of maps and surveys.
- Image tool and title image viewer for editing and viewing scanned images assigned to 1979 Act titles.
- System administration facilities for managing your passwords and selecting printers, etc.
The DMS contains a series of forms and menus in addition to the drawing tool, OPS tool, map comparator and image tools. All forms, menus and the various drawing and image tools can be operated by using the mouse or keyboard, on screen buttons and function keys. The system operates in various 'windows'; several of these windows can be running at once, therefore the Drawing Tool, GSQLDT Drawing Tool Functions Window and Syntegra Menu Forms can be displayed at the same time on your desktop.
