15.0 Opening or creating an Index in Plan Creator

Some existing Index entries that were originally created in the DMS or OPS Tool can be re-opened and edited in the Plan Creator.

  • At present, only RAs (Research Areas), BUFs (Back-up files) and TPOs (Tree Preservation Orders)can be re-opened and edited, however further types will be added as Plan Creator development continues.

It is also possible to create some new Index entries in the Plan Creator.

For the time being, whilst CIL (Community Interest in Land) and CRB (Community Right to Buy) index entries can now be viewed on the index map, they cannot yet be edited or created in the Plan Creator. This functionality will be released shortly and the guidance will be updated at that time.


15.1 Re-opening an existing Index

In the Create plan box in the left-hand panel, select INDEX from the Plan type drop down list.


When selected, new fields will appear in the the left-hand panel - Index Type & Index ID.

Select the Index Type you want to edit (currently only RAs, BUFs and TPOs can be selected).

Enter the Index name or number in the Index ID field.

Click Continue.

The selected Index will now open within the Plan Creator and can be edited.

Case notes can also be amended once the Index has been opened.

Classifications can be added if required, but they are not mandatory.



15.2 Creating a new Index

In the Create plan box in the left-hand panel, select INDEX from the Plan type drop down list.


When selected, new fields will appear in the the left-hand panel - Index Type & Index ID.

Select the Index Type you want to create (currently only BUFs and TPOs can be created).

Enter the Index namer in the Index ID field.

Click Continue.


Details of correct naming styles can be found in Index entry types.

The new Index will now open within the Plan Creator and can be edited.

Case notes can also be added once the new Index has been opened.

Classifications can be added if required, but they are not mandatory.
