Execution in Counterpart

Execution in Counterpart

On 1 July 2015, the Legal Writings (Counterparts and Delivery) (Scotland) Act 2015 came into force. This contains provision for execution of documents in counterpart in Scotland. Execution in counterpart is when, instead of the parties to a deed all signing the same copy of the document, each party signs a separate copy. These separate copies are known as counterparts.

Guidance is provided on the page Legal Writings (Counterparts and Delivery) (Scotland) Act 2015.
