Index map searches - a reminder

Plans officers are reminded that an Index map search must be carried out when plans settling an application for registration - this applies to those cases where a COF is being approved as well as those being mapped using a DCU. Guidance on how to use the Index map search functions can be found in the Plan Creator Layers page.

As up front cases are sometimes completed prior to neighbouring open cases, it is very important that the search is made for registered titles, draft titles and COFs as these will help you see if there is a competing title or the possibility of a competing title that must be investigated before your case can be completed. It is also important to check for any RA instructions or BUF instructions that affect your title.

If you have any concerns about how to proceed with your case after completing the Index map search, please speak with your referral officer.
