S6.4 Execution Prior to 1 Aug. 1995

The requirements regarding witnessing of deeds prior to the above date were somewhat different. In the event of having to examine such a deed the following points should be noted;

a) Previous legislation required two witnesses’ signatures.
b) Witnesses were adequately designed by address only - (1995 Legislation requires name and address).
c) 14 years and above was an acceptable age for witnessing formal documents.
d) Companies execution could be by:

  • 2 Directors
  • 1 Director + Secretary
  • 2 Authorised Signatories
  • 1 Authorised Signatory + 2 Witnesses
