Other - Add To Comments - Sift Instructions

Every application is different, and sometimes you will come across case characteristics which don’t fit in to any other category. It’s important to try and capture these so that the application can be routed to the appropriate person. If you are capturing the “other” case characteristic, it is essential that you complete the comments section on the JIRA ticket, giving some detail about the nature of the characteristic.

How will I recognise “other – add to comments” as a case characteristic?

  • There may be a case collaboration note on CMS, alerting plans/legal settlers to an “oddity” on the search sheet, or in the supporting documents.
  • The LRS or CMS may include comments by a settler or senior caseworker pointing out an oddity or irregularity which doesn't fall into any other case characteristic.

What else do I need to know?

The “other” case characteristic can be hard to identify. It should be fairly rare, but if you see something that looks uncommon or unusual, please use this characteristic so that the application can be routed to a senior officer for further consideration. Do not use “other” for characteristics which are captured elsewhere.
