VR Plan - Sift Instructions

In order to register property in the land register, it’s essential that we are able to identify it on the cadastral map. This can cause difficulties when registering older properties because the plans are rarely good enough for us to plot from. The way round this for voluntary registrations is often for the submitting agent to supply a new plan as a supporting document.

How will I recognise the “VR Plan” characteristic?

VR Application Form

  • Check the Plans Details section of the application form.
  • The last question will state that a voluntary registration plan has been submitted with the application.

CMS

  • The supporting documents will include a new plan. It might be described in various ways for example:
    • Digital Plan
    • Location Plan
    • VR Plan

What else do I need to know?

The “VR Plan” characteristic does not apply if the new plan is incorporated into a Standard Security which is being registered at the same time. In this case, even if the application states that there is a VR plan, or the supporting documents include a VR plan, please do not apply the VR Plan characteristic.
