Indexing Guidelines

Introduction

It is important that these indexing guidelines are adhered to. Having consistent data ensures that the accuracy of any searches is maintained. This is necessary for all customers who rely on the quality of the information that the Keeper provides. It is also important for the RoS business development team who provide reports for business purposes.

RoS has adopted the Royal Mail's address point gazetteer as the standard for all address data held on our systems. Currently this is based on OS address point data. The importance of having a definitive address/places indexing format across all our registers not only increases user confidence but provides a level of consistency to enable more efficient future database analysis of our records.

For ease of reference, the guidelines have been split into sections, as shown in the Table of Contents panel on the right hand side of this page.
