S15.3 The Subsidiary County

The minute is drafted in the same way as for the principal county with regard to the subjects.

At the end of the minute is appended the docquet:

?l?l?i [The writ in the immediately preceding minute is reproduced at length for the Yearly Running Number _____ in the Division of this Register applicable to the County of ________].?z

You can select this from the CSR glossary as item T05. (The Print Room will add the Yearly Running Number details at a later date but the drafter should insert the name of the principal county.)

Drafters should add a ?Note detailing the Search Sheet number of the subjects in the principal county (or, where there is more than one set of subjects, only the first), e.g. ?Note - (see SELKIRK CSS 6078)?z

Finally, the drafter prepares a memorandum (Form A2) for each subsidiary county.

The No. will of course be the original daily number. The Print Room staff will amend this later.

The reference to preservation &c. should be deleted as appropriate.

The first person to appear in the Applicants section of the SAF should be the one referred to in the memorandum, even where that person is not someone we would normally minute or index. E.g. AB and CD as Trustees under Deed of Trust by EF, should be entered as “AB and another as Trustees” in the memorandum. If they are Trustees for a firm then the individuals do not have to be narrated and it should simply state "TRUSTEES OF [NAME OF FIRM]"

The Yearly Running Number details will be added later but the drafter should add the name of the principal county.

The memorandum replaces the copy deed in the batch of writs. The copy deed can then be destroyed. The memorandum is what will appear on the electronic record for the subsidiary county instead of a copy of the deed.
