Indexing and Addressing Guidelines

In the public registers maintained by Registers of Scotland (RoS), such as the Land Register, there is a lot of very useful data relating to people and places. Ensuring that this data is captured, stored and used in a consistent manner is vitally important:

  • it means that the accuracy of searches made in the Land Register can be maintained
  • it is necessary for all of our customers who rely on the quality of the data provided by the Keeper
  • it provides a level of consistency in the data to enable more efficient future database analysis of our records
  • it is important for the RoS business development team who provide reports for business purposes.

Therefore, it is important that the indexing and addressing guidelines contained in this section are adhered to.

Registers of Scotland (RoS) seeks to ensure that the information published in the 2012 Act Registration Manual is up to date and accurate but it may be amended from time to time.
The Manual is an internal document intended for RoS staff only. The information in the Manual does not constitute legal or professional advice and RoS cannot accept any liability for actions arising from its use.
