P24 Check Surveys

The P24 Check Survey form is used to requisition a survey to check and confirm the accuracy of the Ordnance Survey (OS) detail within a specified area. The OS will supply all the appropriate topographic change that meets their current published specification.

The MBM manager vets all P24 Check Surveys submitted to MBM. Each survey will be treated on its own merits. Before referral to MBM, the caseworker must ensure that the P24 Check Survey is the last possible course of action rather than simply for their convenience - in other words, they are not appropriate because the deed plan is floating shape or to correct a previous questionable casework decision – surveys are expensive. It should also be remembered that the quality of the deed plan may be so poor as to make it unacceptable for registration purposes. The Land Registration etc. (Scotland) Act 2012 makes it clear that a description or plan relating to land must be capable of identification on the cadastral map. Plans must meet the Keeper's published Deed Plan Criteria. Any plan not meeting the Deed Plan Criteria should be considered for rejection. The MBM manager will ensure that any rejected surveys are returned with an explanation as to why the survey is deemed inappropriate.
