2.5 Rivers

It is inappropriate to use the gazetteer as there will not be an entry within it for the river. Generally, the description of the property should be included in the prefix field.

The name of the river should always be included within the house name field.

Where localities and towns are to be included, the relevant guidelines for these fields should be followed. As areas of ground are non-addressable, the use of a postcode is inappropriate.

When manually entering an address that cannot be found in the address gazetteer, particular care should be taken to ensure that the post town and/or locality is entered in the correct field. Please check against the approved list of Localities and Post Towns in Scotland.
