17.0 Cadastral Check in Plan Creator

The Cadastral Check function has been added to Plan Creator (PC) to assist with the completion of Index Map searches, making it easier for settlers to identify registered titles, draft titles and indexes that overlap or adjoin your polygon.

Please note that currently only polygons are returned in this first release of the tool. This will be enhanced to include points and lines in the future.

17.1 How to use the Cadastral Check function

To use this tool you must first select your polygon, either by highlighting it in the left hand panel or by clicking on it in the main map window.

  • Only one polygon can be checked at a time.

Then from the 3-dot button to the right hand side of your selected polygon, chose Cadastral Check from the drop-down menu.

A list of all overlapping or adjoining polygons is retrieved and displayed in the left hand pane.

Each result can then be investigated individually by selecting the checkbox.

You can use the Copy and paste button in the toolbar to bring forward the selected polygon from the list into your COF/DCU so you can use it for mapping or referencing purposes. Using this button, or clicking on the Edit tab on the right hand side of the main mapping window will return you to editing mode.

To return to your results list to investigate further overlapping or adjoining polygons, repeat the initial steps again to refresh the Cadastral Check.

Although the Cadastral Check Tool only returns overlapping polygons at the moment, the tool must now be used when mapping all First / Voluntary Registrations and Reports, to ensure all overlapping polygons are dealt with appropriately and the number of competing titles inadvertently created is reduced.

In addition, a thorough investigation of the index map is still required, checking titles, indexes and draft plans so that any polylines and labels affecting your subjects are still identified.
