Sample Property Section Styles - Shared Plots
- Editor9
A shared plot will not normally have a unique postal address with postcode & UPRN. In most cases, the plot is indexed in the same way as any other plot of ground with no postal address.
An exception to this is when the shared plot is shared between two identifiable sharing plots whose postal addresses are known - for example, a common footpath shared between no's 6 & 8 King Street. In that scenario, the addresses of the two sharing plots may be used but without including their postcodes. See examples 1.2 & 2.2, below.
Where under previous guidance one or more shares in an area which would otherwise be considered to be a pertinent of a primary plot, such as where the owners of four houses in a small terrace each own a 1/4 pro indiviso share in a common drying green at the rear of the properties, have been included in a shared plot title sheet, then all subsequent shares in that area should be registered in a similar manner.
Using postcodes
When the subjects being described do not comprise an actual property with a postcode (& UPRN in the gazetteer), but are being described as being (for example) "at" or "to the rear of" that property, the full gazetteer entry with postcode & UPRN should not be used. Instead the address should be manually entered, omitting the postcode. This is done this way to prevent the double use of postcodes & UPRNs which can cause problems for our data management and reporting.
